Hiya!

Got inspired by seeing the amazing Fallout 3 at my brotherŽs and embarked on a small project for it. My brother will assemble some wasteland people (EM-4 Scavengers), while I will do the evil Enclave. IŽm still looking for suitable figures (Orc Troopers from Infinity look almost spot on concerning armour, but those guns...), but for starters what do we need? A Vertibird, of course. I didnŽt have too many good images, so it differs somehow from the game item, but it looks good enough for me. Some Harkonnen Ornithopter influence in there as well.

Materials are plasticard, putty, two wood parts for the engine gondolae, some steel washers, and other small bits. The front ball will sport a machine cannon, and IŽll add some searchlights after painting the main piece. The rotors rotate, and the wings/gondola supports can be tilted as well, but I guess IŽll leave it in that configuration (hovering flight is most useful, methinks). Already got a flying base assembled (not shown). Now, off to painting! More tonight or tomorrow!

Been playing Fallout 3 for the last few weeks, I have been thinking of a similar small projekt! What rules will you be using? I would (and already have on the Sweetwater-Forum) suggest the Mutants and Deathray Guns Rules.

Your Flyer looks awesome, can't wait to see it painted. Only the wheels seem a little small, maybe try some bigger ones or skids?

Seen that. I suggested using LOTOW, but I am currently torn between LOTOW and The Rules With No Name (Street Violence Edition) because they have damage zones on the various body parts - I think my brother (whoŽs been a Fallout Fanboy from day one of the franchise and an avid RPGer) will like that approach as well.

The second one to say that!  Cheesy They are actually almost a centimeter in diameter. The original design has rather small ones, too, basically aircraft landing gear. The legs are removable, and I may still leave them off for now.

Will do, good sir. Current state: Base coated the model in Vallejo Dark Rubber (a dark slighty greenish grey).

Looks great so far - can we have a mini in the next photo for a sense of scale?

Will do one tomorrow when I finish the flying base - until then, some shots of the painted bird.

IŽll varnish the model tomorrow (a matte finish, maybe a slight sheen), and take some better-lit pictures.

Was the main body entirely scratched from plasticcard or based on something else?

Awesome Chris! Cheesy

Although, I think you should leave the wheels on, even if they look a bit small. To me it just adds that final fallout touch. Keep up the great work!
