The old Foundry NWF highlanders are nice minis though there aren't many poses by today's standards; they have Lee-Metfords. I don't have the Perry Sudan figures so can't comment on them (though I can't imagine them being anything other than gorgeous) but thet're armed with Martinis.

You've got to be kidding me!  Smiley

Actually i misled the OP - i have Foundry Highlanders [Camerons] and Perry British [Yorks & Lancs]. The Foundry are a little chunkier but in separate units they look fine together

Plenty of Highlanders getting up to mischief in Africa. But I'm not sure what you mean by "Darkest" Africa. The gaming genre of that name is kind of nebulous, but even if you stretch it to its extremes it doesn't really ever cover anything where Highlanders in kilts got involved; or indeed unless you extend it to cover the Great War in East Africa, no British regulars whatever.

Best I got for you, I'm afraid...

He's either KAR or Rhodesian Native Regiment, I forget which. Dates from the Great War era (only the drummers and buglers were forced into this fancy dress get-up). Some KAR units are said to have worn kilts made from khaki cloth during the war, due to a shortage of shorts.

I would like to use some auxileries (spelling?) as well both with firearms and without, which tribes were more friendly towards the British?

The Masai served as auxiliaries for the Brits against such foes as the Nandi, the Kikuyu, and that other warlike tribe of East Africa: Kaiser Wilhelm II's Germans.

When they weren't fighting the British, some Nandi "Friendlies" also fought for them against their traditional enemies, as did the Kavirondo.
