While preparing for his weekend shows, Andy Lyon of Ainsty's van was robbed:

"All my boxes of show stock are gone, all my display models and figures are gone and all my boxed pieces for on the bottom of the racks are gone. Two racks of blistered minis are gone too."

It has a substantial retail value plus is about a years worth of stock that he's built up. Absolutely gutted for him.

Please share this and hopefully someone will have information which could help.

Jeez... in a case like this, does a thief even know what they're grabbing? Is it a crime of opportunity where they see a bunch of boxes and take them all without looking, and hope there's something good- or is it someone familiar with the industry?

As much as I hate to say it, I hope its the latter- more chance of getting caught I suspect. For example, I'm sure when a thief steals a gun case and finds a bunch of toy soldiers in it, they probably just pitch them in a bin.

Fucking horrible without a doubt.

It makes me wonder if they are gamers rather than opportunists, and if they are it's utterly disgusting. Stealing is bad anyway, but for a gamer to do this to someone (when they would in theory know how hard people work) well, its disgusting.

No idea. Likely a crime of opportunity - but it's a shed load of stuff to move.

It happened near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire.

Christ, in my very own county! Sickening! What show was it? Partizan? That's the only local one I know of. Utterly gutted for him. I hope they catch the bastards that stole from him. As others have said I doubt they even knew what it was they were stealing.

Check out the local car boots for a few days, and ebay, of course.  It may well be someone looking for quick money for a habit...............

Commiserations to Andy, who has worked very hard to rebuild and expand the excellent Ainsty ranges into a new business. Sure this is the last thing he needs. Hopefully insurance will cover the bulk of his losses. I find it hard to believe that an opportunist thief would empty an entire van of resin wargames scenery components - remember most of the Ainsty range are modular systems for scenery, docks, tunnels, walls and so on... The opportunist thief wouldn't know where to begin to offload this sort of stuff, which I'm afraid tells me it was someone or some people who knew exactly what it was. In short, wargamers  Sad

Disgusting.
Thiefs don't think about what they're doing to someone else. In this case, they stole someone's livelihood, not just valuable possessions.
No tree could be high enough for scum like that.  Angry

Knowing the area, Dave, it probably is just an opportunist.... the biggest crime round here (I live only a few miles from Andy) is nicking electricity cables - I kid you not  - and raiding sheds for lawn mowers and gardening tools.

Most likely it'll end up in car boot sales or dumped  neutral
