From Ian over on Frother's:

Old pics showing a couple more angles (and an old RT-era rogue trooper min for scale):

Made the masters for this probably 12+ years ago, sold about half a dozen of'em, then lost the masters during numerous house/workshop moves. Found them again recently and had vague ideas of tweaking and adding to them.

Windows were from an original turretless concept as a scout vehicle; turret was a later addition. I'll probably look at doing multiple versions with/without armoured cabs. Turret section is entirely separate so variants with lifting gear/ comms arrays/ whatever should be relatively easy.

Looks like I know what I'm working on over xmas Smiley

Thanks Viper, that was going to be my question, I couldn't seem to see where you get in/out of the thing. Plus armoured window covers would make it look 'heavier' and I doubt that've managed to make glass that is as tough as any armour plating...

I agree with the others on this. The windows would be perfect on a soft-skin, but don't look right on an IFV. If they were armoured I'd definitely want one, as it's a great model. Perfect for Colonial Police heavy support.

Even if the windows aren't remodelled, it would be quite easy to do a "DIY" job with some plastic card etc, so still very desirable.

How big is it? I'd assume approx 8 inches, but it would be nice to see a figure with it for comparison  Cheesy

I love it - it's EXACTLY what I've been after for my GZG 'New Israelis'.

The windows remind me a lot of SADF vehicles, and make it fit perfectly as a military, paramilitary, police, militia or even civilian vehicle. Perhaps optional armoured covers could be provided for those who prefer steel to the see-through armour known as Futur-Glas (c) (tm)?

windows - well, from a realistic POV these windows are a bit difficult. However, it is SF and IMHO, design is more important - after all, there are enough fully armoured AFV around and this one is special. And besides, anyone buying a resin model should be able to make cardboard ar plasticard armour for the windows in 30 minutes - even as a removable set. Or a resin addition made by the manufacturer?

I think the driver cabin is actually the key clue to this design, and covering it permanently would mean a loss for the vehicle. After all, research vehicles do not need to be fully armoured. The strength of the concept is it's versatility.
It can be a research/police/transport vehicle in a lot of near future/SF contexts - fully armoured it would be just another AFV and less interesting. It would go as- "oh look, someone tried to replicate the Alien APC - the original is different, blah blah blah".

IMHO - no fundamental changes here, only a few additional upgrade sets, possibly a trailer (command, research facilities, habitat, transport) too? like cut off the front cabin section and axle, redisign the front including a coupling/doors, add some top variants? then You have a two vehicle combination without too much work....

Don't forget that in the future, there's the possibility for funky supermaterials that are see-through and tougher than Chobham...

Just a few thoughts for uses I was having over on Frothers:

Ultra modern military
sci-fi military/sci-fi police
Sci-fi civilian
apoc military/civilian
Zed military

Themes(games and films):

Aliens, District Nine, infinty, future wars etc...

Like the idea of the articulation point, having another vehicle with a separate cab and axle with a modular rear axled section would be a great idea, for military, paramilitary, commerical rigs and surveying teams.

Nice!

Mmm. Not a fan of that particular trailer.

I'd rather see a 'family' of vehicles distinguished by different, automated, turrets - from 20-40mm cannon up to 120-200mm Mobile Gun System things.

Engineering, Ambulance, and Command variants would all be appreciated!
