Seems this particular problem is not one confined to our own hobby. Anybody watch the big fight at the weekend? (I bloody didn't. They can stick their pay-per-view as far as I'm concerned, but I'm glad we have a Brit Heavyweight World Champ again.)

Anyway, these two figures are sold as being compatible. On the right we have the true 25mm David "the haymaker" Haye, and on the left "heroic 32mm" Nikolai "the Fallout Supermutant" Valuev...

I mean, come on. How can these two figures be part of the same range? It's ridiculous!  Grin

I like the flocking used to create the hair on his back and shoulders.  Very realistic!   Wink

It is a bit of a shame that the judges awarded it to the 25mm scale one though, I mean sure he aint pretty but that 32mm guy is a beast.

From what I heard of the fight basicly it was like letting a light weight fight a heavy weight and having it judged on points...because the light weight could just spend most of the fight running away the heavyweight had less chances to score points.

People often seem to think boxing weight classes are there because a lighter guy will just get demolished by a big guy, but that's only true if the big guy lands a punch, they are there so that it's an even match and they will go toe-to-toe.

Until they make a new weight class just for Valuev you can't really say it's unfair. Haye did rock him in the final round anyway. For a second or so Valuev didn't know where he was and looked like going over. Closest anyone has ever come to putting him down. So Haye deserves some credit for that.

Haye also apparently broke a bone in one hand just hitting the guy!

don't know much about boxing, but it looks bizarre

32 mm is styrofoam conversion and 25 mm is lead?  Wink

at least they could have sent 2 guys in equalling the weight of the mutant

It's just the angle of the photo.

Does the angle explain away the apparent shape of Valuev's head? I'm surprised he can walk erect, let alone box, which does take a decent level of hand eye coordination

No. That's because he's a Wargames Factory sculpt.

Too right brother Plynkes  Evil

I remember Mini-figs marketing a similar pair back in the golden age under the names Carnera and Louis.
And I think earlier still Hinchcliffe did Dempsey and Willard, but this is getting ridiculous. Laugh

Hahaha, very fair point.
I didn't really mean it was unfair in terms of them fighting, as you say Haye rocked him, where the slight problem I have comes in is the points based system of judging which I think favoured the smaller faster fighter in this case.
It was still an insainly close fight though.

Just remember that they are in the same weight category my everso almost namesake. And the best fighter won on the night....simple as that.

I've seen the fight now that Sky have deigned to show it in a non pay-per-view fashion: Valuev is massive, strong and tough. But he's not a boxer.

Tough one, really. Haye was too timid, but when he punched he landed - Valuev was swinging away and not hitting anything. And in the last round the Brit stunned the big guy and had him tottering. Just wish he had fought like that sooner in the bout, but that last round made it Haye's fight for my money.
