Actually this Project started over 10 years ago. At first is was just a idea and playing around with the idea. Then four years ago i found some pics on Agis homepage:
http://www.agisn.de/html/desert_world.html
With some resarch i found the source of the minatures and was able to contact the creator BOFStudio, who provided the minatures.
In same month i started the first 11 mins:

And what a wonderful result. Need more.

What next? Yes some flyers. Actually i really love the range from puppetswar.

But i had to lay my fingers on some old models from Revell: Hefty price tag.

But the scale fits perfectly:

Again a wonderful result i think.

Then i started on some conversion works:

More to come.

Summer 2014 the first faction was mostly done:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7kgl4AycARw/TOrLjCrcq3I/AAAAAAAAAaE/kHj3J8J-E1o/s640/PDVD_520.BMP

Second faction WIPs:

More conversions:

And last summer after house building (the 1:1 minature buidling project 2014-2016, which consumed much hobby time) i started building my gaming board in my new hobby room:

Much trial and error:

Not fully finished but a good result i think.
Anyone know the crazy board Andy did (3 parts) (totally jealous):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN1RQ7T-8Qk
So what i'm working atm:

So my plan for 2017 is to finish all the board and the minatures.
That ist 200 minatures left and 15 vehicles + extras and the Board.
And for this i need a project plan:
1. step: Troops (Jan, Feb, Mar: Special ones in Sep)
2. step: Vehicles (apr, jun, left ones oct)
3. step: board and buildings (may, left ones nov). Here i will hopefully get help from my gaming club.
4. step: Characters (jul,, left ones dec)
5. step: preparation of presentation (aug, my plan is to get with this to the german Tactica 2018). Here the gaming club wants to help too.
I think its a hefty timetable, but i also think the are some hidden reserves. We see after the the first steps.

So 3 month s for the gros of troops:
4 factions with around 180 minatures to do. quite a big chunk.
But the imperial factions is mostly done.

On jan, 10th. i finished the imperial faction with this pics:

One day later i started the dukes faction. Yesterday i finished the first test trooper (nice name):

Time given i should finish these lately end of january.

More when i progress.

Absolute madness! But it's coming together beautifully.

I love the dunes on the table. A real 3D look.

Great stuff, very evocative.

I admire your dedication to do a whole faction to completeness, I'd be flitting between groups doing some from each!

I loved the books as a young man, the original movie, the TV multiple series, the never-finished Jodorowsky...

The universe was so big, I enjoyed the diversity of visions.

Seeing those figs on that table sure adds to that.

Looks like an enjoyable ten, and a well-spent four years. Looking forward to future posts.

I just finished another playthrough of Dune 2, this time in the Dune Legacy mod (highly recommended!). I envy you for your miniatures and scenery colection. However, where is the sandworm? Smiley Surely at least a tiny sandtrout could menace the dune dwellers or serve as a ride? Smiley
Also, with the raised borders of your table you could just pour in a few bags or realy sand Wink

Very nice - I like the table set up in particular. The Puppetswar flier fits well too.

See? For once, I actually went to the site before comment.  Cheesy

He says a small-but-ride-able worm is on the way, though nothing about a trout.

Do check out the hidden Fremen markers!

Of course, you'll want it wet sand to be able to sculpt, and watch the legs break on the table. Been there, done that. Roll Eyes

The pattern there looks darn good.
